Valentines Weekend and Stars and Snowdrops
Saturday 11th and Sunday 12th February, 2017. Two night’s accommodation over Valentine’s weekend. Relax in the comfort and luxury of Hanwell House bed and breakfast. Broughton Castle opens for the year on Easter weekend and is open on Easter Sunday and Easter Monday between 2.00 p.m. – 5.00 p.m. Normally the Castle only opens on Sundays, Bank Holiday Mondays and Wednesday afternoon as Lord and Lady Saye and Sele reside there, but you are very likely to find them as your tour guides as they love chatting to members of the public who wander around their lovely home and gardens. Hobby Horse Festival – now combined with the Folk Festival in October
Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th October, 2017 Banbury Hobby Horse Festival extends an open invitation to all hobby horses and related animals, plus companions, to have a great time at each year’s gathering.
The festival provides a rare opportunity to perform alongside groups of dancers with traditions stretching back centuries – and their hobby horses, of course.
They have around 40 animals each year. The atmosphere is extremely convivial, and the pace fairly relaxed. As well as general horsing about and processing spectacularly through the pleasant market town of Banbury, they have music and song sessions, talks and great food. There are also community events.

Cropredy Festival – 50th Anniversary

Silverstone’s return to the series for the seventh time since the 1980s, will happen on the , 2017. Make a complete weekend of it by booking three or four night’s accommodation. Banbury Canal Day
Saturday, and Sunday October, 2017
Enjoy two night’s bed and breakfast accommodation where you can enjoy the Cotswolds in Autumn and go into Banbury Town Centre on the Sunday to enjoy all that the Canal Day has to offer. During the day there is a programme of traditional dance and music, boat taxi services, boat trips northbound Sovereign Wharf, vintage double-decker bus rides from Bays 1 and 2 in the bus station and from Compton Road. There are also horse and cart rides plus Falconer and children’s activities in Spiceball Park. The Sealed Knot Living History Encampment is on Bridge Street Park and a Folk Festival takes places in the General Foods Garden. There are demonstrations by Blacksmith’s, chandlery and canal crafts at Tooley’s and Sovereign.
Banbury Folk Festival and combined Hobby Horse Festival
We have a new venue for our Song and Ale Weekend and for Folk Festival camping. This will be at Banbury Cricket Club which has excellent facilities and is closer to the centre of the town
The festival started in 2000 as a one day event but has grown into a full weekend attracting major artists and folk enthusiasts from all over the country whilst still maintaining its friendly, intimate atmosphere. Banbury, nestled on the eastern edge of the beautiful Cotswolds and close to the historic Civil War battle sites of Edgehill and Cropredy, is a great place to visit With its charming medieval shopping streets and alleyways, the newly pedestrianised town centre provides a fabulous place to shop and a great venue for the dance sides to perform.
Make sure you go to see the ‘Fine Lady on a White Horse’ statue as depicted in the famous nursery rhyme ‘Ride a Cock Horse to Banbury Cross’ It is at the top of the High Street opposite the famous Cross.
For brides-to-be we can offer that special personal touch for the night – and morning – before the ‘big day’. We can arrange a special ‘last supper’ meal, celebratory bubbly and chocolates, hairdressers, photographs etc. In fact everything you need, plus of course, oceans of tissues, tea and encouragement as you sit and wait for the big moment!
